ADDITIONAL THERAPIES - AUTOGENIC TRAININGADDITIONAL THERAPIES - AUTOGENIC TRAINING
The self help approach

What is autogenics?
If you experience painful physical or emotional symptoms where no clinical cause is apparent, a vicious circle of distress can take over. It is tempting to focus on alleviating symptoms rather than dealing with the cause.

If any of the following symptoms are familiar to you, maybe Schultz’s Standard Autogenic Training (AT) Exercises will help:

  • Anxiety/worry/panic
  • Sleep problems
  • Asthma (worse when stressed)
  • Migraine/headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Stress-related issues
  • Digestive problems (IBS)
  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Skin disorders
  • Infertility (non-specific)

Usually, all we need is a new perspective on ourselves.  The human organism is naturally self-righting. The mind and body work in tandem to put right the wrongs loaded on to them over the years. AT feels a bit like meditation but is much easier to do.

AT is a skill for life. You are your own therapist.

AT is a method of simple mental exercises which bring about profound relaxation.  Practised regularly, AT enhances mind/body balance, which in turn boosts the immune system and helps many psychosomatic or stress-related disorders.

AT can be practised almost anywhere: in any ordinary chair or lying down.  No special clothes or equipment are needed. Brilliant for trains and planes!

Exercises can vary in time from 20 seconds to 20 minutes, making it readily accessible.

Who is it suitable for?
It is suitable for adults of all ages

Benefits
AT helps us to gain insights, learn our limitations, gain inner confidence: how to keep stress at the optimum level so it works for us (stimulation, challenge, and purpose) rather than against us (stress overload or burnout/illness).
