The osteopath explained that I’d damaged a disc
“I am a Tiler, so heavy lifting and working in awkward positions is part of the job. After two weeks of low back ache I started getting severe leg pain. I saw a therapist but it was getting worse. The osteopath explained that I’d damaged a disc and told me I’d have to stop work and rest – I had to cancel my holiday - I was not amused!.
I wasn’t fully cooperating at first, but I soon realised that the osteopath was talking sense and then did as I was told and improved steadily. Getting rid of the leg pain was such a relief and I made it to my son’s wedding in Australia 10 weeks later!”
I would like to thank the Penn Clinic for giving me back the ability to do my job and for their professional approach and manner and their concern for my well being. Highly recommended

I can walk without pain and can now do certain gardening tasks .....
I just wanted to let you know that my back improved enormously after your last treatment. I feel I have a new lease of life and, most importantly, I can walk without pain and can now do certain gardening tasks which, prior to the treatment were leaving my back feeling very weak. I am now able to do a couple of hours gardening every day, feel fine afterwards and I am gradually getting fit again.

Disc damage and sciatica ......I declined surgery and continued with osteopathic advice and treatment
I felt pain in my back after lifting my two children (5 & 3 y/o) out of the bath. That was one of the worst ways to lift as I held them away from my body because they were wet. I was a fit 38 y/o mum, and a keen runner and just about to go away on holiday! I accepted the advice given by the osteopath as it was reducing the pain. Later when I saw the bulging disc on MRI it was helpful to know that the osteopath was correct. I declined surgery and continued with osteopathic advice and treatment. I had a few set-backs but today I am running again and my back doesn't stop me doing anything I want to do.

Osteopathy has enabled me to play table tennis, dance again and travel .....at 77 years of age
In 1974 I was medically advised that my only chance of a reasonable 'life' was to have horrendous surgery on my lower back. Whilst on the waiting list, I was encouraged to try cranial osteopathy. This has been successful and I have never had to resort to the recommended surgery.
Osteopathy has enabled me to play table tennis, dance again and travel (I have just returned from a five week holiday in USA at 77 years of age).

'severe headaches for just over nine months in teenager'
"After suffering severe headaches for just over nine months and having attended numerous hospital visits without success, I was absolutely amazed that after just two sessions at 'The Penn Clinic’ my headaches have all but disappeared. Just walking a short distance would result in intense pain prior to my first appointment. Just one week later I can now walk four miles at normal speed and have just swum 30 lengths at our local pool. Thank you so much Catherine and Caroline."

The improvement in our daughter's spine (scoliosis) is excellent .....
We were first recommended to the Penn Clinic after our daughter had a very difficult birth. When she was 8 years old she was diagnosed with mild scoliosis and we again contacted the Penn Clinic. The exercises set by Caroline proved far more beneficial than those set by the physiotherapist or the consultant.
The improvement in our daughter's spine is excellent and whilst we are still monitored by the consultant the only exercises undertaken are Caroline's (With the full consent of the consultant).
As a parent I would highly recommend the Penn Clinic to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

Within about 1 month of starting the HANDLE program, we could see a real change in our son
A few lines to let you know what impact the HANDLE activities have had on my son:-
He has difficulties with learning, communication and social skills. He has had an individual education program (IEP) since starting nursery and he is seen by speech therapists, a dermatologist and a paediatrician on regular intervals.
He is eight years old and was introduced to the HANDLE program about a year ago. He enjoys doing the exercises and wants to be good at them. Within about 1 month of starting the program, we could see a real change in him. He could maintain eye contact for longer and take part in a conversation, whereas before he would have said what he wanted to say and ignored what was being said to him. His tutor commented that he was able to concentrate better and stay focussed for longer. Situations that would normally have caused him to lose his temper or get really upset, such as losing a toy or not being able to fix something, he could now deal with more calmly, looking for a solution rather than it being the 'end of the world'. The main change that we noticed was that, with a calmer boy, the rest of the household could deal with him in a calmer way and we found the stress level in the house gradually reducing.
One year on, he continues to improve. He has joined 3 clubs at school - something that he was never keen to do in the past (his hand-eye coordination is now good enough for him to take part in activities like tennis and table tennis without getting frustrated). He now enjoys team games such as football and his last school report was the best that he has ever had. He has more energy, needs less sleep and he is much more organised and responsible for himself.
He still has a way to go but we have tried a number of approaches and the HANDLE program has helped him to make real progress, and made all of our lives that bit easier and happier. Thank-you!

The calm atmosphere and skilled attention at The Penn Clinic
I have been visiting the Penn Clinic for years and have always been amazed at how quickly and gently they work to put things right for me. I used to go to traditional osteopaths and found that an adjustment would only work for a short time or I would need multiple adjustments to get the situation stabilised. Now I only go once or twice every few years!
Today I came flying into the clinic, late stressed and in a rush and I walked into a room completely full of peace and calm. I immediately slowed down and felt calmer myself. What was happening? Caroline Penn was doing everything she could to put a young child at ease including working with him in the waiting room with his family there. She had such great natural rapport with them that there was a pool of calmness all around them. Caroline really connected with everyone, the parent, child and sibling, so they all felt included and able to be a part of the treatment. It was a real pleasure to watch someone who is so skilled on so many levels.
It was the first time I'd seen Caroline Penn at work and I went straight to my sister and recommended her for her kids!
